Who We Are

We are a federally chartered non-profit civilian youth training organization, for young people ages 11 through 17. We are sponsored by the Navy League of the United States and supported by the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.

Our Mission

"To encourage and aid American youth to develop, train them in seagoing skills, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance and kindred virtues…”

The goals of our program are to:
Develop an interest and ability in seamanship and seagoing skills.
•Instill principles of good citizenship and strong moral principles.
•Demonstrate the value of an alcohol-, drug- and gang-free lifestyle.
•Expose cadets to the prestige of a military career.

Our two Units:

1. Training Ship Kearsarge – our junior program, ages 10 through 13. This program introduces cadets to naval life through instruction in basic seamanship and leadership

2.Grey Ghost Division – our senior program, ages 14 through 17. This program exposes cadets to the full rigors of a military training program.
